And that's as much use as a candle in a hurricane

Never understood why some cars have the reversing light so far down. The Ford Focus is the same. They could have integrated reversing lights into the 2 white bits on the boot lid where the reflectors are, easy enough to have fitted connections for when the boot lid is closed making a circuit.

Now there is a conundrum.
Are reversing lights to help the driver see whats behind him or to let people know the vehicle is reversing.
In different cars that Ive owned you could have plumped for either answer.
Captur is deffo the latter.

1 light so far down - im not sure it does either job particularly well.
Little dangerous that in my opinion.

The reversing light on the Captur is absolute rubbish - gives out a very small area of illumination that is next-to-useless at night in my unlit works carpark for example... yet the front fog lights come on at night to help you reverse!! Madness; the twin reversing lights on my 2001 Galaxy are far better and actually illuminate the area behind the car for quite a distance.

Was just thinking, maybe fitting an LED bulb for the reverse light (I've swapped white LED for normal bulbs in pervious cars as it's much brighter) and then thought I'd look in the handbook I have on my Mac and this got me!!!! Whats wrong with this pic?
Do what?!?!?!?
So anyway, what is the fitment for the reversing bulb?

Even me
would think that removing the back bumper would be a better choice! I know cars can be quite complicated, but this would require the owner to have very stretchy arms!!
anyone remembers Inspector Gadget?!

The reversing light can be thoroughly improved by simply fitting some decent p21w led light , you don´t need any kind of special tool to do this and surely not necessary to remove the bumper!

Please tell me it's on the left side on the UK version!
Also, I don't see how putting another on the other side would have hurt.

It's on the left.
Cost-cutting; 1 rear fog light one side, and a reversing light on the other, in the same location (where they are too close to the ground to be of any real use).
The car doesn't look symettrical as a result.... distinctly odd, but Renault aren't the only manufacturer guilty of such cost-cutting.

Dear jabicho,
it would be nice if you tell us, how you do that (reaching the bulb without disassemling the bumper)?
Thank You

One foglight is quite normal, and has its uses- a single light is less blinding to drivers behind than two (if they are left on in normal visibility), plus the single foglight, separate to the main light cluster, is less likely to obscure the brake lights- which twin lights in the cluster can do. There is a general preference from member states of the EU (and the DoT) for a single foglight. It has to be mounted at least 100mm from any stop light anyway- but greater separation is noted as being better.
A lower single foglight is a good compromise between visibility in fog, etc. while reducing the glare to following road users.
Just thought I would throw that one into the mix!

ulim and any else who is interested.According to the Renault workshop manual access to the rear fog light isgained by removing the rear wheel arch and removing 1 screw, the bulb can then be removed. Not a job for a cold wet day!

I like that idea, are there any restrictions on reverse light wattage? if not then that is a vast improvement.
